Default Interested in becoming an officer?

To be a leader in AOD, you must first recognize that we are a benevolent dictatorship
There is a person in charge who own their decisions at every level and they have to live with the consequences of their action be they pleasant or otherwise. To be an NCO means that you are not here to just play games - you are taking on the burden of volunteer leadership and must carry the weight. A officer is somebody who is mature, dedicated and willing to give some of his/her time to help the clan and other clan members (for example doing recruitments) and basically putting the needs of the clan first, above personal goals. If you want to step up for more authority know that this is the wrong motivation and we will not entertain you that notion. If you want to step up to make the clan a better place then that's what we look for and want to nurture as a community. People come to AOD for a measure of structure, leadership and control. As an NCO you need to appreciate our groups core ideals. We value NCOs who are efficient, dedicated, proactive and loyal. We value dedicated and loyal people who are willing to make the day to day sacrifices to keep things going around here.

This is YOUR division! YOUR home! The divisions survival is dependent on the amazing volunteers that dedicate their time to keep the division running smoothly on all cylinders. If you are willing to help and become part of the journey and privilege that is helping out your division, then great! It is not for everyone, but your involvement no matter how long is greatly appreciated. So we thank you in advance for taking an interest in reading this thread.

The essence of leadership in AOD is Sacrifice: giving of yourself so that others can enjoy themselves and have fun. Our goal when considering new NCOs, then, is to create leaders that can help make the body of AOD as a whole better and to ensure its continuance. As an NCO you will learn core skills and the clockwork behind the curtain of AOD's daily life. The high-level end goal of any NCO is to replant the seeds of their learning into others to ensure that future generations of AOD enjoy the benefits. This is how AOD endures.

Here's some of what we look for:
    • Consistent and above-average activity in TeamSpeak, on the forums and in game
    • Patience, maturity and a great attitude
    • Willingness to set aside personal goals to help others
    • Eagerness to help

Still interested? Here's what you should do:
Find your Squad Leader on the Division Structure and send them a private message on the forums

    The message should include
    • Why do you want to become an officer within COD
    • Why would you make a good officer
    • How you would like to get more involved (your interest areas)

After that has been completed your Platoon Leader will sync up with you to go over what is required of an officer. You'll have an opportunity to ask questions and get the right info.

Furthermore, in order to become an officer, you will have to progress through the AOD Ranking Structure. Just as a reminder, here are the first steps that you will have to go through in order to become a member of the NCO team:

    Recruit (Rct)
A new member of AOD, should begin learning the code and the clan rank system. Should also be active in the division's AOD server and on the forums.

    Cadet (Cdt)
An active member who has shown loyalty and honor in their first few weeks in the clan.

    Private (Pvt)
Rank based on merit as a member and time in AOD. The member should be posting regularly and show clan loyalty and honor. As a Private, you must be frequently active on both TeamSpeak and on the forums, be friendly and helpful.

    Private First Class (Pfc)
Expected to help fellow clan members and to set an example for incoming members. Rank based on merit as a member and time in AOD. At this rank, a member should understand and follow the code of conduct and be the best they can be. Pfc is also a rank for prospective and retired officers.

    Trainer (Tr)
Introductory officer rank. Expected to set an example for new members and is responsible for training AOD members in game specifics and helping lower ranked members become productive players. Soak in the culture of what it means to be an NCO and learn the ropes. It's important for Specialists to sit in on recruitments to learn the process, with the intention of eventually performing the inductions solo. Must learn how to use the Tracker.

    Lance Corporal (LCpl)
Experienced officer. LCpls are assigned the duties of a Squad Leader and are expected to carry out tasks given to them by their Platoon Leader. As befits their rank and experience, LCpls are also entrusted with helping their squad become accustomed to AOD and training them in game mechanics as needed. Must be proficient with the Tracker at this point. Able to reommend members to Pvt.

    Corporal (Cpl)
A Cpl fills the role of Platoon Leader and is expected to communicate and guide their assigned Squad Leaders. Able to recommend members to PFC and approve Pvt promotions. During the member's time as a Corporal, he/she will be trained to become a Sergeant.

Don't forget: all officers are here to see that things run smoothly and to make AOD what it is today. All officers are here to help the members of this great community!

    Thanks, and good luck!

    (Thanks Anvil for thread outline)
